Hello April - Long Island Photographer

    Monday, March 31, 2014

Last summer I started taking some photos to show
    current colors and plant life.
I decided to do it once a month to show how the weather was changing.
I've kept up with it for a few months now, and had a tough time
showing any life at all through the winter.

    Despite this morning's unexpected snowstorm,
I'm delighted that we're on the verge of spring
so I can start capturing vibrant colors again!

All photos have been taken in the three village area.

Venue Review with Stephanie Jean Photography - Stone House at Stirling Ridge NJ

    Monday, March 24, 2014

Today's Wedding Venue Review takes us to New Jersey.
Yes, you'll notice here from the website  SJP Loves to travel!

This was certainly a favorite venue of mine. The design is clean and classic,
    mixed with contemporary architectural elements.
The beautiful outdoor space and light makes for an elegant ceremony,
and the vast ballroom perfect for a bride with a large guest list.

    Introducing:
This wedding was shot in April
    The ceremony began at 6:30pm

The light loved this couple all day.
No matter where they went, it wanted to go with them.
There was no shortage of beautiful spots to photograph them.

After the formal portraits of friends and family, the outdoor ceremony began.
This flower girl lit up as she came down the isle, and stole the lime light for just a moment.
The father and grandfather of the bride were so touched with emotion during the ceremony.

Guests found their seating cards below a trestle of floating orchids and candles,
and then made their way to this crafty & creative guest book, where they could
send their best wishes to the bride & groom.

I always love when I have the chance to try food at these venues!
It was nothing short of exceptional!

Everyone was touched by the Father and bride's dance. Some were even brought to tears!
Not a seat was taken during the dance party.
Everyone wanted to shake their tail feathers at this wedding!
Outside, the fire pit was lit and guests could roast their own marshmallows and make s'mores!
    And who doesn't love s'mores?

I'd recommend this venue in a heart beat.
It's perfect for a bride looking to host her ceremony and reception at the same location
while utilizing a fabulous indoor and outdoor space.

Long Island Wedding Venue - Lessing's View

    Tuesday, March 18, 2014

This affair was small in size, but not in elegance.

This was a daytime wedding shot in October 2012

    Location: View
    Oakdale, NY

The View Restaurant offers a breathtaking setting on the Great South Bay.
It's the perfect combination of classy and casual.

I've photographed a wedding here, and also attended bridal showers and brunches, and dined here for dinner.
The food is exceptional! Don't miss the chance for the weekend brunch that they offer!

This special bride and groom had a beautiful ceremony in the fresh air, overlooking the water.

We had a blast taking photos out on the pier with all their family and friends.
Perfect setting for a sailor and his bride!

Guests dined & shared their well wishes in a comfortable & sophisticated atmosphere.

This venue is perfect for an intimate affair.
If you're a bride looking for an outdoor ceremony near the water, certainly consider the View.
It's owned and operated by Lessings, so you know you're not going to be disappointed.

Long Island Wedding Venue - Shelter Island's La Maison Blanche

    Thursday, March 13, 2014

Today's Venue Review takes us on a trip east. All the way east.

We're visiting a little hotel on Shelter Island called La Maison Blanche.

This wedding was shot on a beautiful day in September 2012.

The cozy back porch was set up for guest seating

The grounds were quaint, and full of character.

The bride was all set up in a cottage set apart from the hotel.
There was plenty of space for her and her girls to get ready by themselves.

The flower girls lead the way from the cottage to the ceremony location out on the lawn.

We had no trouble sneaking away for some intimate romantic portraits.

As the sun set, the atmosphere became even more romantic.

I highly recommend this venue for a bride planning a small & quiet affair with her guests.

Long Island Wedding Venue: Lombardi's on the Sound

    Monday, March 10, 2014

After my fiance and I booked our wedding venue, I couldn't wait to show my parents exactly where we would be having our wedding. I searched the internet, and collected the best images I could find. Unfortunately there weren't many out there.

It didn't make sense to me that although they had a long wedding history, it was so tough to find a current photo of what a wedding looked like in our ballroom. When we toured the venue, it was midweek, and nothing spectacular was set up, so I really wanted to get a feel for what it would look like on our big day.

So to help current & future brides, I've decided to dedicate some blog time to featuring some of the venues I've personally worked at. I'll be digging up images from weddings I've done in the last few years to share with you! Hopefully it helps show what each place offers, and gives all those brides who eyes are sore from hours of clicking and scrolling, a better idea about what to expect from all those venues they're visiting!

    Today's Feature Venue:
44 Fairway Drive, Port Jefferson, NY 11777
    Phone: 631.473.1441
    Fax: 631.473.1445

This wedding was shot in June 2013
    Cocktail hour began at 7pm

The bride had her makeup done by Perfectly Blended, makeup by Vivian
I personally saw how perfect her makeup was even by the end of the night,
that I couldn't help myself, and I contacted Vivian soon afterwards
and booked her for my own wedding!

We had taken bridal party photos at the WoodHull Landing Beach Club
and then some more portraits of the bride & groom outside Lombardi's,
    overlooking the Long Island Sound

Tommy Tunes had the couple dancing all night

The beautiful floral arrangements were prepared by Flowers by Liz, from Sayville.
Yet another vendor I fell in love with and hired for my wedding as well!

If there's one thing you know you won't have to worry about with Lombardi's it's the food.
It's going to be phenomenal, and there's going to be tons of it.

The view over the sound during sunset is sure to take your breath away.
